A marriage officer duly appointed by the South African Department of Home Affairs is NOT allowed to charge a couple for attending the the registration of a Civil Union.
A marriage officer IS ALLOWED to charge for his personal time as well as his traveling expenses incurred whilst attending to a civil union.
